Winter Landscape

Just before Christmas I went to the library to stock up on books to read over the festive season. In the winter months, I like to read books that evoke the season. I borrowed Winter, by Ali Smith in the library collection, a novel set around the Christmas period.  During the cold, bright winter days I'm also reminded of The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula le Guin, a novel set on the ice covered planet Gethen. This festive season, however, there was no sign of snow or ice in Leeds.
