Rain

Reading the poem After Rain by James A Mackereth, inspires me to read another book from The Leeds Library collection, Rain (2016) by Melissa Harrison. Rain is based on four walks in four seasons in Wicken Fen, Shropshire, Darent Valley and Dartmoor.  In the first few pages, Harrison invites us to see rain as part of the English landscape. Rather than avoiding the rain, Harrison dresses in waterproof clothing and goes out for refreshing walks. Her commentary on rain reminds me of the downpour we had in Leeds last week, when rain fell for almost twenty-four hours.
